Strand Products Inc. wishes to automate the cable cutting process by developing an electromechanical system which integrates with an existing Ewald flash cutter. The current setup, measuring, and cable dereeling processes are done manually which are slow and labor-intensive processes for a lab technician to perform. The automated system will “mimic” the lab technician’s hands by utilizing various sensors, pneumatic actuators, stepper motors, and microcontrollers when performing a cutting job.
