A-Grip

Get a grip

Project Type:
Mechanical Engineering
Year:
2020

Description

Vacterl syndrome is a growth disorder that results in varying forms of physical defects that affects around 32,000 people in the US alone. For a boy named Johnny, the defect takes the form of limb abnormalities, preventing him from being able to perform menial tasks such as writing and using utensils.

A-Grip’s goal is to help as many people affected by limb abnormalities as possible. By working closely with Johnny, we developed a process by which we can create a grip that is personally fitted to every customer. This process is as simple as mailing the customer a molding kit and letting them identify what is most comfortable for them. The mold will be washable and food safe with the use of extra coatings. The final product will allow the customers to use their upper limbs for tasks that were previously very difficult or impossible to perform.
