Our project focuses on improving access to affordable 3D printing in resource-limited communities by utilizing recycled PET plastic bottle waste as printable material. In many regions such as West Africa, the high cost of importing commercial filament creates a major barrier to the adoption of additive manufacturing technologies in schools, makerspaces, and small businesses. The proposed system is a compact extrusion attachment designed to process recycled PET flakes directly on any standard 3D printer. By using shredded PET bottles as feedstock, our project aims to reduce material costs while promoting sustainable recycling practices and local manufacturing.
