Northrop Grumman Corporation is an American global aerospace and defense technology company that must test a wide variety of electrical components to ensure mission success. Part of the testing process requires transporting the components across the Northrop Campus to various testing sites which can be over a mile away. Often times the testing widows can be missed due to unreliable transport vessels which costs Northrop both time and money. Ascent is a project designed to assist Northrop Grumman engineers in the safe and reliable transportation of delicate and costly electronics, specifically up and down staircases of all sizes. The system consists of a modified industrial hand truck with pneumatic tires and will utilize a rotating arm system to hoist the cargo up one stair at a time. This solution offers optimal security and allows Northrop engineers to safely move hardware in a timely manner.
