Our project helps people keep their homes filled with fresh, cool air and lower their AC
costs. The number of extreme heat days in California has tripled over the last century. In
response, many people use AC to cool down their homes, but this is extremely costly
and environmentally unfriendly. Our automatic window-opening system enables
homeowners to bring fresh air into their homes and reduce their AC usage. Our system
utilizes temperature, humidity and air quality sensors to determine the optimal times to
open and close windows. Users can adjust their desired home temperature on a LCD
menu, as well as view the current sensor measurements. The system only cracks
windows 6” open to maintain home security. There is a pin connecting the device to the
window, so the user can easily remove it if they want to open the window manually.
