PenGUI
Our project is to provide a user friendly, fully offline, and relatively affordable solution to control Praevium’s development kits with a touchscreen GUI. Praevium Research specializes in VCSEL lasers and provides dev kits to other researchers for a variety of different applications. Currently these kits come with the laser controlled by a Red Pitaya and some additional components on a custom PCB. The Red Pitaya hosts a web GUI which a researcher can use to set the laser parameters. The goal of our project is to first replace the web GUI (which is not maintained and relies on hosting a server on the local network) with a touchscreen, offline GUI using a Seeed Studio reTerminal. Eventually we aim to replace the Red Pitaya completely (using the reTerminal and/or other custom hardware) to save on cost for developers who do not need all the capabilities of the Red Pitaya.
