Medication Management Done Right

Project Type:
Electrical Engineering
Year:
2021

Description

Medication usage has become increasingly common for people around the world. Many are forced to adhere to a strict intake schedule in order to ensure optimum effectiveness. Between busy schedules and forgetful tendencies, perfect medication use can become difficult. The Personal Automated Medication Assistant  (P.A.M.A.) aims to tackle this issue. It consists of a mobile application and an automated medication dispenser comprised of ten separate compartments for users to put their medications into. Users can use the phone application to input their medication information (i.e. name of medication, time for intake, days of week for intake, number of pills to take, corresponding compartment number in dispenser), and all of this information will be tabulated into a schedule for users to view within the app. This information will also be stored in a database and can be synced with the dispenser via Bluetooth. The embedded microcontroller controlling the dispenser will process the received data and use a real-time clock to dispense the corresponding medication dosage at accurate times based on the information in the database, and users will be notified that it's time to take their medication through the app.
