LEGtrek

Walk Empowered

Project Type:
Multidisciplinary
Year:
2019

Description

Sophie is a local seventh-grade girl with a courageous and fiery spirit -- but her inability to walk independently makes it hard to follow her dreams to become a chef or a fashion designer.

LegTrek can change that.

Triparetic cerebral palsy has seriously reduced muscle development in Sophie's legs, core and arms, confining her to a 250-pound power chair for most of the day — every single day. Just imagine how that would change your life.

By providing Sophie with a) weight and balance support, b) a mechanism which allows her to sit or stand without leaving the device, and c) powered assistance that senses and matches her own gait, LegTrek allows Sophie to walk comfortably and perform tasks like cooking and drawing, combining the best features of standing wheelchairs and gait trainers.
