Each year, the Society of Automotive Engineers hosts a competition called Formula SAE Electric, in
which top universities are challenged to design, build, and race single-seater electric race cars
from scratch. Our project is to represent UC Santa Barbara by building a car for the 2024 FSAE
Electric Michigan competition, which can pass technical inspection and compete in the dynamic
racing events. To accomplish this, our vehicle features a tube frame chassis, double wishbone
suspension with pushrod actuation, custom 537 volt battery pack, cloud-connected data
acquisition system, and carbon fiber aerodynamics and bodywork. Our vehicle has a designed top
speed of 60 miles per hour, 0-60 in under 6 seconds and weight of 550 pounds. We aim to bring a
safe, reliable, rules compliant vehicle to competition, and showcase the talent of UCSB Engineers.
