WheelyClean
Every day, vehicles leaving Marborg’s downtown Santa Barbara facility track out around 80pounds of hazardous dirt and dust particulate onto the beautiful city streets. The company must spend over $150,000 to minimize this detrimental trackout, and our project aims to design amore viable solution to this problem. Wheely Clean is a tire-washing system designed to remove accumulated dirt from tire treads as vehicles exit the facility, reducing the amount of particulates leaving the facility. The cleaning subsystem incorporates a semi-passive bath to rinse off dirt from tire treads as vehicles roll through. A filtration subsystem will clean the contaminated water from the cleaning bath and produce non-potable water for reuse and overall sanitation of the system. To finish off, a drying subsystem is used to reduce wet trackout when vehicles leave the site, preserving the well-being of the community and the environment. Over a five year period, this project is anticipated to save hundreds of thousands of dollars for Marborg and other trash facilities across the nation.
