It is estimated that the Department of Defense spends $7 billion annually on repairing
preventable corrosion. Our team is working to mobilize Inovati’s Kinetic Metallization™ system,
a proprietary cold spray technology capable of fighting corrosion and fixing damaged parts.
Kinetic Metallization™ is a form of additive manufacturing that works by imparting large
amounts of kinetic energy into a fluidized gas-powder mixture which is sprayed at high speeds
through a patented sonic nozzle. This spray forms an extremely robust metallic coating that can
be applied to a range of substrates in order to restore critical part dimensions, such as where
rust has been removed. Inovati currently designs its systems for use in a laboratory setting only.
However, our team is currently helping to develop the first fully functional Mobile Kinetic
Metallization™ system for use by the Navy across its entire fleet.
