One small step for motors, one giant leap for control
Year
2020

In our everyday life, we are surrounded by numerous motors. From the refrigerator to the fan over the stove to even the garbage disposal in the sink, electric motors are everywhere. For years, the way by which motors are run hasn’t changed at all despite new technology being developed that could make them more efficient.

But Cyclus brings transformation. We will design a new algorithm that will allow us to take advantage of these technologically more advanced components. Cyclus is concentrating on this new motor driving technique and this new material that would both increase the efficiency and also optimize the size of motors. Currently, 48% of the electricity generated in the United States goes to electric motors, which is around 2 trillion kWh. If most of the motors implement the Cyclus algorithm, we can eliminate at least 100 regular sized fossil fuel power stations in this country. One single power station will cost billions of dollars for construction and its operation can totally degrade the air quality of a major city with a multi-million population.
