Benjamin Frias

<p>Benjamin Frias is&nbsp;fourth year graduating senior in Mechanical Engineering. He was born in South San&nbsp;Francisco, CA&nbsp;and later, moved&nbsp;to Pittsburg, CA.&nbsp;As a&nbsp;first generation Mexican-American, he will be the first in his family to graduate from a 4-year&nbsp;institution.&nbsp;Throughout his&nbsp;time at UCSB, he has learned many engineering analysis and design techniques as well as&nbsp;programming and control design. Through his Capstone project he has picked up strong communication and teamwork skills.&nbsp;He is that team player&nbsp;who would do what no no one&nbsp;wants to do&nbsp;because&nbsp;it has to get done.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Projects he was involved with include the Lawrence Livermore National Lab Powder&nbsp;Spreading Machine and Key-Holding Cellphone Case. He served as the automation and controls lead for the Powder Spreading Machine. He took the&nbsp;introduction&nbsp;to&nbsp;LabVIEW controls course&nbsp;to be prepare himself&nbsp;to program the Newmark automation equipment for the Powder Spreading Machine. For the Key-Holding Cellphone Case he was&nbsp;involved&nbsp;with the design and CAD&nbsp;modeling of the cellphone case.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Benjamin's hobbies include music, movies, and sports. In&nbsp;his spare time, he likes to take part in recreational sports such as basketball, soccer, and football, as well as small projects like building tables out of stock wood from Home Depot.&nbsp;</p>
