Bio

Dylan Shackelford is a passionate engineer interested in designing mechanical systems and controlling them with software. With a technical background in classical mechanics and a passion for programming, Dylan has a wide ranging skill set that can be applied to almost any project. Born and raised in San Diego, he enjoys the outdoors - surfing, swimming, or hiking whenever possible.

Dylan is detailed oriented and has a strong grasp of system integration. These characteristics were on full display with his software team leadership position on his NOAA - Radar Capstone project. Dylan helped lead a team designing a software package to control their remote radar tower in a pseudo duty cycle of transmission and standby to conserve power. (Ask him about, he’d love to talk more about it!).

Additionally, Dylan has strong analytical and managerial skills. He assumed roles of managing his Capstone’s team budget and scheduling meetings; communicating with federal agencies and 3rd party companies to help make the project the best that it can be.

His passion for software extends beyond the academic environment and into the iTunes App store. He developed “Mutable” from concept to app store submission. He is passionate about good design, both mechanical and software. He is appreciative of the invaluable lessons learned during this year long project. He looks forward to graduation in June and hopes to pursue a career in industry.
