Bio

Christopher is a fourth year mechanical engineering student. Chris was born and raised in Santa Barbara and is a first generation college student. His interest in mechanical engineering stems from working at his father’s automobile repair shop. There, he learned how to diagnose and solve mechanical problems.

Chris’s interests lie in the field of aerospace and medical devices. He and his team are partnered with Northrop Grumman for their Capstone project. His main responsibilities within the Northrop Grumman Robotic Air Bearing Platform team are structural design and reliability. In this role, he performed analysis to ensure that structure was compatible with the project specifications. He spent the past two summers working as a mechanical design intern at Arthrex California Technology, a leader in arthroscopic surgery technology. At Arthrex, Chris was in charge of various projects ranging from designing accessory arthroscopic devices to fixtures and tooling for existing devices. He acquired intuition and experience in design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing and critical design analysis. He looks forward to graduating in the Spring and beginning his career as an engineer.

In addition to his studies as a mechanical engineer, Chris still has a passion for volleyball and coaches Men's volleyball at the San Marcos High School, his local Alma Mater. He enjoys mentoring students and giving back to his community.
