Bio

Brooks Peterson is a fourth year mechanical engineering student involved with developing the braking system for the UCSB Hyperloop Pod. He will be graduating June 2017 and will continue on in pursuit of a master’s degree at UCSB with an emphasis in either dynamics, controls and robotics, or in micro electromechanical systems (MEMS). He is currently involved in research in developing an energy harvester utilizing microfluidics in the UCSB Nano Lab and has had two previous internships: one at Becton-Dickenson and the other at General Atomics – Electromagnetic Systems. Brooks was born and raised in sunny San Diego where he learned a deep appreciation for the ocean and environment. In the little spare time he has, Brooks enjoys surfing, hiking, and playing beach volleyball.
