Benjamin Frias is fourth year graduating senior in Mechanical Engineering. He was born in South San Francisco, CA and later, moved to Pittsburg, CA. As a first generation Mexican-American, he will be the first in his family to graduate from a 4-year institution. Throughout his time at UCSB, he has learned many engineering analysis and design techniques as well as programming and control design. He served as the automation and controls lead for the Powder Spreading Machine. He took the introduction to LabVIEW controls course to be prepare himself to program the Newmark automation equipment for the Powder Spreading Machine. For the Key-Holding Cellphone Case he was involved with the design and CAD modeling of the cellphone case.

Benjamin's hobbies include music, movies, and sports. In his spare time, he likes to take part in recreational sports such as basketball, soccer, and football, as well as small projects like building tables out of stock wood from Home Depot.
