Breakthrough Battery Support

Project Type:
Electrical Engineering
Year:
2019

Description

Planes have been relying on fossil fuels for far too long now; it’s time for aerospace to step forward and join the electric transit revolution. This hasn’t happened yet because current batteries weigh too much. One advanced type of battery that is being researched has a potential for significantly higher energy densities, but these batteries require rigorous management systems adapted to their unique needs. This technology has additional requirements for its reaction to take place, like being held at a high and stable temperature and have constant airflow to function. Therefore, we have created a system that provides airflow to the battery, gives it a physical housing, measures current and voltage, and keeps the temperature stable in order for these batteries to be viably used.
