Description

With wireless communication evolving into the next generation, hardware and software needs to evolve along with it. Power amplifiers traditionally are limited in efficiency due to nonlinear properties. In operation, nonlinearity is analogous to the different lanes on a freeway. Transistors are designated to operate at specific frequencies, which would be their lane, and the nonlinearity causes out-of-band leaking, which would correspond to a car drifting out of their lane. To solve this, we are developing a DPD (digital predistortion) algorithm, which can be seen as a lane assistant to work along with the power amplifier we are designing. With the hardware and software working together, we will achieve a more linear and more power efficient system for the advancement of wireless communications.
