Sonos Walking Box aims to study and understand the phenomenon of Speaker Walking.
Speakers tend to move around at low frequency high amplitude oscillations, and this could be a
potential hazard. Imagine this, your cousins are running around in the living room, you have
some nice music coming from a speaker on a shelf, and it’s just good vibes all around. But all of
a sudden the speaker walks off the shelf and falls onto your cousins. Not only can Speaker
Walking ruin weekends, cause injuries, but it can also damage your floor or the speaker itself.
However, speaker walking is not well understood, so Sonos Walking Box has developed a
prototype to come up with specific criteria to eliminate speaker walking.
