SafeSight

Eyes that Save Lives

Project Type:
Multidisciplinary
Year:
2023

Description

Despite the fact that only about 25% of motor vehicle travel takes place at night, nearly 75% of fatal car accidents occur around this time of the day. One of the main reasons for this ongoing issue is that current Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) systems use visible-light cameras, which struggle to detect pedestrians in low-light conditions. SafeSight is an innovative device that uses thermal camera technology to detect pedestrians and obstructions using their heat signatures. Thermal video collected by our product will train new machine learning models for object detection, which will lay the foundation for future thermal-enhanced AEB systems.

Through its compact and wireless design, SafeSight can also be easily brought to car manufacturers around the world to demonstrate the importance of incorporating thermal camera technology into future AEB systems. When SafeSight technology makes its way to your next car, you’ll have eyes that save lives.
