Salty Solutions is developing a testing rig to evaluate water-level sensors for application in a desalination plant. The rig is designed to emulate a critical tank within the plant that contains a highly corrosive brine solution requiring robust and reliable level sensing. Controlled oscillation of the brine level in the testing rig allows repeated sensor activation, enabling quantitative comparison of sensor repeatability, reliability, and operational consistency. Experimental results will support a data-driven sensor selection process for our sponsor: Solar Power and Water. System-level considerations, including tank integration and field maintainability, informed the sensor evaluation criteria, with non-contact sensing methods prioritized for their hot-swappable capabilities and ease of installation.
